At least 19 militants including five commanders and seven soldiers were killed during a clash in Pakistan’s North Waziristan tribal region, said the military on Monday.
A statement by Pakistan military’s Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said, “19 terrorists were killed, including five of their commanders, in an intense exchange of fire with security forces last night in an unclear pocket along the North Waziristan-Afghan border. When being chased and cordoned, one militant exploded himself killing seven soldiers.” The suicide bomber exploded himself on the Laddha-Shawal axis on the boundary between North and South Waziristan tribal regions.
North Waziristan is one of seven tribal districts of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan and Pakistan military has launched a comprehensive operation against the foreign and local militants in the region.
