Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Tuesday the vice president of the Libyan presidential council Ahmed Maetig in Cairo where they discussed the latest developments in Libya, the Egyptian foreign ministry said in a statement.
According to the statement, Shoukry and Maetig mainly discussed how to implement the UN-sponsored Sukhairat declaration in Libya — which was signed in December — and to provide constitutional support to the Libyan House of Representatives and the national unity government.
During the meeting, Shoukry stressed that Egypt would continue its diplomatic role in order to reach solutions that suit all parties in Libya in a way that would preserve the unity of its state and institutions in order to fight terrorism.
