Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallström will, on Tuesday, start a two-day working visit to Tunisia, at the invitation of Foreign Minister, Khemaies Jhinaoui.
This visit confirms Sweden’s support to the Tunisian democratic transition and the determination to strengthen co-operation relations with Tunisia to help it overcome the economic challenges it faces at this stage, a statement of the Foreign Affairs Ministry underlined.
It is also part of monitoring the results of the visit paid by President Beji Caid Essebsi to Stockholm in November 2015.
Margot Wallström will co-chair with Jhinaoui a re-opening ceremony of the Swedish Embassy to Tunisia, closed since 2002.
Beji Caid Essebsi announced the re-opening of the Embassy of Sweden during his visit to Stockholm.
The two Ministers will also co-chair the first session of the political dialogue at the ministerial level, in line with the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two countries on November 5, 2015.
