Tunisian Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui, on Tuesday, discussed with United States Ambassador in Tunis Daniel Rubinstein the reality of the Tunisian-US relations and prospects for expanding them in all fields, the upcoming bilateral events and a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
According to a Ministry press release, the two sides reviewed ways to build on the results of the successful working visit by Prime Minister Youssef Chahed to the United States from July 10 to 12, in addition to the upcoming bilateral meetings, including the third session of the Tunisia-US Strategic Dialogue to be held shortly in Washington. The second was held in Tunis in November
2015.
The meeting also discussed the latest developments in Libya and the efforts exerted to bring the Libyan parties together to reach a comprehensive political solution to the crisis in their country.
Jhinaoui and the US ambassador reviewed the situation in the Middle East after the tension witnessed in the region after Israel closed the Al-Aqsa Mosque to the Palestinians.
The minister stressed the strong relations between Tunisia and the United States in all fields, expressing Tunisia’s keenness to further expand them in line with the bonds of friendship between the two countries
For his part, the US ambassador reiterated his country’s readiness to continue supporting Tunisia and helping it to face the current economic, development and security challenges.
