Afghanistan security forces kill 54 rebels in operations

At least 54 rebels were killed and several others sustained injuries during clashes with Afghan security forces in the past 24-hours across Afghanistan, said Ministry of Defense on Friday.
The casualties inflicted on the insurgents in Nangarhar, Ghazni, Paktia, Kandahar, Zabul, Farah, Balkh, Jawzjan, Faryab, Kunduz, Baghlan, and Helmand provinces of Afghanistan, a statement by the ministry said.
It added that 25 rebels were injured, while three others were arrested.
Earlier, the Afghan Air Forces conducted 68 flights and hit rebels’ hideouts in 16 different areas.
According to the local media, Taliban rebels have claimed that security forces have suffered casualties during these operations across Afghanistan, although the ministry did not declare any casualties.
Last Friday, the ministry claimed that at least 95 insurgents were killed in security operations in different parts of Afghanistan, weeks after a series of attacks targeting Afghan security forces and civilians, where over 200 people were killed, mostly security personnel, in addition to 300 others wounded across Afghanistan.
