Death toll update | Nearly 105 fighters killed and injured of “al-Sham Corps” close to Turkey in Russian airstrike on camp near Iskenderun region, north-west of Idlib

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented further casualties in the Russian airstrikes on a camp belonging to the Ankara-backed al-Sham Corps in Jabal al-Dawila area in Harem, north-west of Idlib.

The number of fighters who have been killed so far has risen to 34, while the recovery of the missing from under the rubble is still underway, as well as helping the wounded by rescue teams.

The death toll is expected to rise as more than 70 injured, some in serious condition, while many others remaind missing under the rubble, amid reports of further fatalities.

It is worth nothing that the targeted camp was supposed to graduate a batch of fighters within days, after conducting a training course for them by the al-Sham Corps.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored this morning renewed airstrikes on the “de-escalation zone”. Russian jets carried out airstrikes on places in the area of Jabal al-Dawila in the area of Harem, north-west of Idlib, nearly 9 km away from the border with the Iskenderun region.

The targeted area hosts camps for displaced people and rebels’ headquarters, specifically Al-Sham Corps faction close to Turkey. No casualties have been reported so far, while Russian jets continue flying over the area.

It is worth nothing that the area had housed an air defense battalion. However, al-Sham Corps turned it into a training camp after taking control of the battalion and captured a large number of regime soldiers about eight years ago.

On October 21, SOHR activists documented the injury of six civilians, including two children, in today’s airstrikes by Russian fighter jets on Al-Rami village in Jabal Al-Zawiyah in the southern countryside of Idlib.

SOHR sources had reported renewed airstrikes by Russian jets on Idlib province this afternoon, targeting Al-Rami village in Jabal Al-Zawiyah in the southern countryside of Idlib, but no casualties were reported.

It is worth noting that the village of Al-Rami hosts large number of refugees and displaced people.
