Crisis over Ukraine and European Security

Access our comment and analysis on the Ukraine crisis as the situation unfolds.

The confrontation between Russia and the West is not merely about the future of Ukraine’s security arrangements; it is about Europe’s entire post-Cold War strategic framework. To all intents and purposes, Russia is demanding another division of the continent into spheres of influence, something the Europeans have spent the past three decades trying to avoid.

This is not a winner-takes-all confrontation, and many permutations are possible. However, what is certain is that the continent is confronted with its worst security crisis since the fall of the Berlin Wall.

RUSI has followed this confrontation from the start; the collection here brings together all our contributions from different perspectives and angles and across other intellectual disciplines, from history to economics, from epidemiology to the science of the battlefield.
