Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, stated that the captives were released thanks to the military pressure of the country, as well as diplomatic efforts. In a press conference, Netanyahu said that the war “will continue until we achieve all of our objectives.”
He added that by this, he means the return of captives and the elimination of Hamas. “A ground operation is necessary to achieve the stated goals,” he declared.
Netanyahu also stated that “his troops are fighting in accordance with international humanitarian law.”
“This is a prolonged war, but we will win this war at the end of the day,” he said.
Reminder, after a brief ceasefire, Israel resumed strong attacks on Gaza, with casualties already numbering in the hundreds.
Today, the Biden administration emphasized that the U.S. will not allow the forced relocation of Palestinians or any change of the current Gaza Strip border.
Furthermore, Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, expressed “regret” today over the continuation of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, highlighting Israel’s obligation to respect international humanitarian law and the laws of war, describing it as “not only a moral but also a legal obligation.”
