Shooting near Jerusalem: One killed, eight Israelis wounded

One Israeli was killed, and eight others were wounded in a shooting that occurred Thursday morning near the settlement of Ma’ale Adumim, east of occupied East Al-Quds/Jerusalem.

According to the Israeli public broadcaster KAN, Palestinians opened fire on Israeli vehicles, killing one Israeli and injuring eight others, two of whom are in critical condition.

It is also reported that Israeli settlers killed three Palestinians for alleged involvement in the shooting, as reported by Anadolu Agency.

The attackers took advantage of the traffic congestion in the area and opened fire on Israeli cars, KAN adds.

The broadcaster reported that local authorities requested residents to stay in their homes.

Palestinian resistance groups have not yet commented on these claims.

The incident, it’s worth recalling, comes amid Israel’s destructive war in the Gaza Strip since October 7, with intensified raids, arrests, and killings in the occupied West Bank.

Israel occupied East Jerusalem during the Arab-Israeli War in 1967. It annexed the entire city in 1980, a move that the international community has never recognized.
