Quake Hits Southern Iran

An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale jolted the areas in the vicinity of the port city of Lengeh in Iran’s southern province of Hormozgan on Thursday. According to the seismological network of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake was registered as 07:14 hours local time (03:46 GMT).

“No reports have yet been received on the possible number of casualties or damage to property by the quake,” head of the Natural Disasters Headquarters of Hormozgan province told FNA.

Yaser Hazbavi also said that the rescue and relief teams have been dispatched to the region.
