TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian president’s participation in the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) summit in Doha, Qatar strengthened security cooperation in the region, Bahraini foreign minister said.Addressing an opening ceremony of the Manama Security Conference, Khalid bin Ahmad al-Khalifa noted Iran’s relations with the regional countries, and said, “I want to assure the world that Iran’s relations with the PGCC is a source of confidence and not an element of difference.”
He further stressed Iran’s right to use peaceful nuclear energy, and reiterated the need for Tehran’s full and active cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as well as full transparency of Iran’s nuclear activities.
Underlining Iran’s stable relations with other regional and world states, the Bahraini official viewed presence of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the PGCC heads of state summit in Doha as a positive development.
“Ahmadinejad’s presence strengthened the grounds for security cooperation in the region, and the statements of the Iranian president were a positive development for securing regional peace and stability,”
