TEHRAN (FNA) – Iranian cinema is a very famous genre in the world and has a positive effect worldwide, a prominent Syrian film director said on Sunday.“The popularity of the Iranian cinema is due to the high quality of the films and the humane issues it deals with,” Ghosan Shamit told Alalam.
“The Iranian cinema proves Iranian directors have made achievements, thanks to their brainstorming and giving new concepts to film-making, and have managed to glue foreign audience to the screen,” he said.
The similarities between the Iranian and Western cultures are the major factor to attract the Western world to the Iranian cinema, Shamit said.
The remarks came as the 26th Fajr Film Festival is under way at several of Tehran’s cinema halls. The event started Feb 1 and will continue through Feb 11.
Iranian Deputy Culture Minister for Cinematic Affairs Mohammad Reza Jafari-Jelveh inaugurated the opening event on Thursday evening at Tehran’s National Grand Hall.
