Iran, Syria Sign Agreement for Industrial Cooperation

A00706054.jpgTEHRAN (FNA)- Iran signed an industrial cooperation agreement with Syria on Wednesday during the eighth session of the Iran-Syria Industries Committee.

Iranian Industry Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian and his counterpart, Syria’s Fouad Issa al-Jouni signed a memorandum of understanding for the industrial collaboration of both countries.

Mehrabian said that industrial ties between Tehran and Damascus were in a phase of expansion, and that the time is ripe for both sides to witness miraculous prosperity in bilateral relations.

Al-Jouni, for his part, said that his country has put Iran on top of its economic cooperation agenda.

The document sees Iranian investments in various sectors, such as food, agriculture, cement, steel and aluminum industries, as well as the assembling of industrial vehicles and a restructuring of the chemical industries sector, the Islamic republic news agency said.

The session of the Iran-Syria Industries Committee opened on Tuesday and will end on Wednesday.
