TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said here on Tuesday that the Islamic Ummah (nation) is in desperate need of unity and solidarity.
Addressing millions of people here in Tehran on Tuesday, the Leader stressed in his sermons after the prayers of Eid-ul-Fitr that unity is the only way to solve regional problems, specially those of Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon.
He further praised the Iranian people for their extensive rallies on the International Qods Day, saying that it showed the political understanding and energy of the nation.
Ayatollah Khamenei also pointed out that the recent victory of the Lebanese Hezbollah against the Zionist regime had to a large extent affected the Muslim turnout in the Qods Day rallies.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he stressed the importance of the upcoming Experts Assembly and local council elections and called for strong participation and massive turnout, underlining the importance of holding sound and secure elections.
