Mihai Ghimpu to meet with head of Russian government apparatus

Moldova’s caretaker president Mihai Ghimpu will have a meeting with the head of the Russian government apparatus Sergei Naryshkin on the sidelines of the fourth CIS Forum of Intellectuals and Researchers, which will take place in Chisinau between September 24 and 25.

Serghei Naryshkin will come to Chisinau as head of the Russian delegation. Details of Ghimpu’s meeting with Naryshkin were discussed at a meeting of the caretaker head of state and Russia’s Ambassador to Moldova Valery Kuzimin.

Mihai Ghimpu did not exclude that he and Serghei Naryshkin may discuss the agenda of the CIS summit that will held in Chisinau during October 8-9.

The October summit will bring together heads of state and foreign ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The Council of CIS Foreign Ministers will take place on the first day, while the Council of CIS Heads of State – on the second.

Moldova in October will pass on the CIS presidency, which it has held this year. Mihai Ghimpu said that they will hand it over “with pleasure”.

Asked about the list of participants in the summit, Mihai Ghimpu said that he does not yet know it as the preparations only started.
