TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian Parliament Speaker Gholam Ali Haddad Adel in a phone conversation with his Lebanese counterpart Nabih Berri on Sunday voiced Tehran’s strong support for all types of efforts leading to national unity and ascending to power of an integrated government in Lebanon.
A statement released by the public relations department of the Islamic Consultative Assembly said that also during the phone talk, Haddad Adel expressed his pleasure with the current trend of talks among the Lebanese groups, which are aimed at the achievement of national understanding and the ascending to power of an integrated government.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always laid emphasis on the unity of the Lebanese nation and it extends full support to any kind of efforts which result in national unity and establishment of an integrated government representing all the Lebanese people,” the Iranian top legislative official underlined.
For his part, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri described the status quo in Lebanon as sensitive, and noted an agreement by all Lebanese groups for attending talks to form an integrated national government.
He reminded that the negotiations would start on Monday, where maximum effort would be made to grant equal rights and role to all groups.
Berri expressed hope that the talks would produce positive results, considering that all the Lebanese groups, regional states and the United Nations have approved of the said negotiations.
To end his remarks, the Lebanese top lawmaker praised Iran’s stances and supports for Lebanon, the transparent and straightforward stances of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in particular.
