Syria Stresses Strategic Consultations with Iran

A0242122.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Syrian Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Abrash stressed that Damascus considers consultations and cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran as a major rule and principle of its foreign policy.

According to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry’s Information and Press Bureau, al-Abrash made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki here in Tehran on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the Iranian minister noted the resolve of the two countries’ senior officials to develop the existing ties, saying that development of ties with Syria is logically necessary.

He said the two countries’ interaction serves the interests of both nations, governments and regional policies, and praised the constructive role of the Syrian parliament in Asian interactions.

The top diplomat reminded that the Asian continent is host to half of the world population, a major source of energy, and cradle of divine prophets, and expressed the hope that the consultations and exchange of views by the Asian parliaments would pave the way for a return of the continent to its real and original identity.

He also referred to the recent crimes committed by the Zionist regime, and said that the barbaric acts of the Qods Occupying regime stem from the failure of the aggressive and expansionist policies of the Zionists, stressing that the demise of the Israeli regime is imminent.

For his part, Syrian Parliament Speaker, Mahmoud al-Abrash pointed to the two countries’ shared views about regional and international events, and stressed that Damascus considers consultations and cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran as a major rule and principle of its foreign policy.

The top legislative official further reiterated that Syria would utilize all its potentials to boost bilateral ties and cooperation with Iran in the international bodies and circles.
