TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Lebanon’s outgoing ambassador to Tehran met with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki here on Tuesday.
During the meeting, Adnan Mansour appreciated Iranian people and officials for their hospitality and cooperation, and said his country would under no circumstances forget Iran’s supports, a statement released by the Foreign Ministry’s Information and Press Bureau reported.
Noting the crisis in Lebanon and the visit to that country by an Arab League delegation, he said, “So far all view exchanges and consultations have yielded no results, and we believe that this crisis must be solved though observation of national interests and negotiations.”
For his part, the Iranian foreign minister praised efforts made by the Lebanese ambassador to promote relations with Iran, and reminded, “Different sects and tribes in Lebanon have long lived side by side one another and we believe that the current crisis could also be settled down through talks.’
Mottaki also voiced Iran’s support for the Lebanese consensus and solidarity, and stressed that Lebanon should not give in to such solutions which are imposed by the enemies.
“We have exchanged views with the Arab League Secretary General and chairman of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in this regard and we believe that all the different parties should help Lebanon solve its problems through negotiations,” he concluded.
