KFOR declined invitation to meet with Serbs in North Kosovo

KFOR Commander Erhard Drews believes that the Wednesday meeting in Zvečan is unnecessary.

Even though Kosovo Serbs have invited him, Drews will not appear at the meeting, said commander’s spokesperson on Tuesday evening.

“General Drews has so far met with municipal presidents for a number of times and clearly stated his position. He will not attend the Wednesday meeting primarily for other obligations,” Spokesman Uwe Nowitzki explained in a statement, adding that the KFOR commander had received a letter from north Kosovo municipal presidents.

Nowitzki recalled that the KFOR position implied unconditioned freedom of movement for all citizens and international missions, stressing that this was in line with KFOR mandate and international documents referring to presence of international forces in Kosovo.
