Germany still not decided on Serbia’s EU talks date

Germany has not yet made a final decision whether to vote for or against granting Serbia a date for the beginning of the EU accession negotiations in June.

This is according to Andreas Schokenhoff who led a delegation of the German Bundestag during a visit to Belgrade.

“The Bundestag will discuss the matter only after the European Commission’s progress report is ready, which means after April 16, so the following days and weeks are crucial,” he said.

Schokenhoff stressed that without being given the green light by the Bundestag, Chancellor Angela Merkel could not vote for granting the date at the European Council meeting.
