Demonstrations in Bulgaria continue for 46th day

Protests against Bulgaria’s socialist-led government have entered their 46th day as a group of demonstrators left water melons in front of the parliament on Sunday.

Thousands of people who are organized on the social media gathered in front of the building of the Council of Ministers in Sofia. Protesters marched into the National Assembly by shouting slogans as “Mafia”, “Red Trash” and “Resign” with watermelons in hands. Demonstrators likened politicians to watermelons that they left in front of the Parliament. During the protests, the main crossroads were temporarily closed to traffic.

Thousands of people have been protesting peacefully since June 14, 2013 every day demanding the resignation of the four-week-old government of Plamen Oresharski.
