Iranians in Japan celebrate new year

Iranians residing in Japan celebrated Norouz (New Year) here on Wednesday. According to an ancient Iranian custom, a table decorated with seven articles which their names in Farsi begins with “S” was set.People gathered in the ceremony, including Iranians and some Japanese interested in Iranian culture, prayed for peace and tranquility in the world.

A few people expounded on Norouz customs and traditions in both languages.

Iranian artists performed some pieces of Persian music in the venue.

Many of Iranians had come from different parts of Japan to Tokyo to participate in the ceremony.

The Japanese also hold an special ceremony in the beginning of spring which is called “Ohigan”. It is one of the most important holidays of Japan and is celebrated on March 21, too.
