Croatian president ends visit to Serbia

Presidents of Serbia and Croatia, Tomislav Nikolić and Ivo Josipović, will on Thursday be meeting with Serbian and Croatian businesspeople.

The two presidents will also travel to Donji Tavankut in the Subotica municipality, for talks with representatives of the ethnic Croat community there.

Josipović and Nikolić said yesterday in Belgrade that relations between the two countries experienced some progress, but were still burdened by a set of problems, including the issue of missing persons and mutual genocide lawsuits.

Nikolić told at a joint press conference that the withdrawal of the lawsuits would establish “complete peace between the two countries and two peoples, because whatever the outcome of the trial, some will not be satisfied.”

Josipović said that resoling a number of problems, among which he highlighted the issue of the 1,689 persons missing from the war, was the condition for “resolving relations between Zagreb and Belgrade.”
