Pakistani Foreign Minister Mian Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri voiced pleasure with Iran’s insight into the case of the British troops, and praised the Islamic Republic’s decision about the issue.Speaking during a phone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on Thursday, Kasuri said he was pleased with Iran’s decision to release the 15 British marines, and added that adoption of the said decision prevented further tension.
“All Pakistani officials are pleased with the decision,” he stressed.
Elsewhere, the official noted the talks about the construction of the Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline – also known as ‘The Peace Pipeline’ – and said that his country has already attended negotiations with the Indian side to discuss the issue.
“We are fully serious to finalize the project and we are actually about to do so,” he said.
The Pakistani foreign minister also extended his congratulations to Mottaki on the approval of Iran’s observer status in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).
For his part, Iranian foreign minister said his country was glad to see that London finally paid attention to all aspects and realities of the issue of the 15 British troops.
Concerning the Peace Pipeline, Mottaki stressed that the required conditions are now available for the arrangement of a tripartite summit to be attended by the Iranian, Pakistani and Indian heads of state in a bid to implement the project.
To conclude his words, Mottaki appreciated Pakistan and other member states of SARRC for supporting Iran’s membership in the organization.
