Afghan President Hamid Karzai during a phone conversation Saturday night with his Iranian counterpart, praised Ahmadinejad for pardoning the 15 British military troops. Also during the phone talk, Karzai extended his congratulations to Ahmadinejad for having adopted such a wise and thoughtful decision.
He further extended an invitation to the Iranian president to pay a visit to Afghanistan, and stressed that the Afghan nation and government will never forget the Iranian nation’s kindness and friendship, specially with regard to the reconstruction of Afghanistan and further appreciated the Islamic Republic of Iran’s aids and assistances.
For his part, Iranian president felicitated Karzai on the advent of the birthday anniversary of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH), and reminded that his country’s decision to pardon the British militaries was adopted on the above occasion.
Ahmadinejad further reassured that Iran will remain on the side of the brother nation of Afghanistan for ever.
