Russian FM to meet Syrian opposition leader

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will meet leader of the Syrian National Coalition (SNC) for Opposition and Revolutionary Forces, Ahmed al-Jarba, in Moscow Feb 4, the Russian foreign ministry said Friday.

The first meeting between the two was held in Paris Jan 12.

“I understand that first of all, you are concerned about the fate of motherland. The fate of the Syrian people is not indifferent for us,” Lavrov said.

Another meeting between Lavrov and al-Jarba was held within the Geneva II peace conference on Syria in Montreux, Switzerland.
