Speaker Calls on Bush to Improve US Domestic Security

If Mr. Bush has any power, he’d better spend it on the establishment of security and freedom inside his country, Iranian Parliament Speaker Gholam Ali Haddad Adel said pointing to the recent manslaughter at Virginia Tech University. Addressing an open session of the Islamic Consultative Assembly here in Tehran on Wednesday, Haddad Adel expressed regret over the incident at Virginia Tech University and condemned the massacre of innocent students as well as other similar incidents.

He further expressed his condolences on the occasion and extended his sympathy for the bereaved families of the victims.

“Such events should increase our information and awareness about the American society,” the top legislative official said, and further blasted unrestricted practice of capitalism and money-oriented trading of weapons, which he described as a source of pain and suffering both for the people inside and outside the US.

He said Americans claim to be in charge of instructing the world in freedom and allege that they should administer the world affairs, adding, “That’s why they invade countries remote in distance so as to allegedly establish freedom and security in those countries.”

The chief legislator further lashed out at the US administration for invading other countries on the pretext of establishing security, stability and freedom while the American society is insecure, saying, ” If Mr. Bush has any power, he’d better spend it on the establishment of security and freedom inside his country so that the number of such bitter and painful incidents, which is not the first and won’t be the last of its kind, is reduced.”

He also criticized the lack of morality in the US society, saying that such incidents are a result of that country’s disrespect for moral values and promotion of violent cine and TV films.
