African security personnel to be trained by Egypt’s police

The Egyptian Police Academy will train 155 middle ranking officers from 14 African countries in security and counter terrorism between 19 October and 13 November, said a foreign ministry statement.

The trainings are part of the Egypt Agency for Development Partnerships initiatives to “transfer expertise to African countries in the area of security and to strengthen cooperation between various African States”.

In cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Police Academy hosted the trainees who are expected to receive sessions on crime investigation, national security, and counter terrorism.

The trainees include personnel from Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Eritrea, Kenya, Mali, Madagascar, Niger, Nigeria, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The statement quoted Ambassador Hazem Fahmy, secretary general of the Egypt Agency for Development Partnerships, saying that the initiative aims to support African countries in security affairs.
