Turkish, Azerbaijani, Georgian FMs to discuss trilateral meeting

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu is scheduled to meet with his Azerbaijani and Georgian counterparts for a trilateral meeting in the eastern province of Kars on Dec. 10.

During the meeting, Çavuşoğlu, Georgian Foreign Minister Tamar Beruchashvili and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov are expected to discuss bilateral and regional issues, increasing cooperation between the countries and regional stability and security. The parties also expected to exchange views on regional cooperation on issues of common interest to all three countries.

According to a Turkish Foreign Ministry statement released on Friday, the minister will also hold bilateral meetings. “The trilateral meeting of foreign ministers, where bilateral and regional issues will be evaluated in a comprehensive way, will contribute to the development of common understanding in all areas on the basis of mutual interest, and to the consolidation of regional stability and security,” the statement added.

The last meeting of the three was held in in Ganja, Azerbaijan in February. Turkey was represented by then-Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, and a joint statement on the results of the meeting was signed in Ganja.
