Tunisian President, John Kerry discuss Libya situation and counter-terrorism

Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi welcomed the level of the Tunisian-US relations, saying they “are and will remain strategic.”
Mr. Caid Essebsi, who received Monday in New York, US Secretary of State John Kerry, spoke, in particular, of terrorism and said the end of 2016 will see the installation of electronic control on the Tunisian border lines.
Regarding current issues, Caid Essebsi said the Libyan crisis tops Tunisia’s priorities. That position was already expressed last year when the Head of State had received in Tunis John Kerry who told him the Syrian problem remains the top concern for his country.
During President Beji Caid Essebsi’s meeting with Kerry in New York, the US Secretary of State underscored his country’s strong commitment to Tunisia’s democratic transition and emphasized the importance of promoting a vibrant economy and fostering democratic values and institutions, said the US State Department.
President Caid Essebsi and Secretary Kerry discussed a range of issues including regional security, counterterrorism, and economic development, as well as recent passage of the investment code, the same source added.
