United States to send some extra troops to Afghanistan

imgThe United States will send about 3,500 extra troops to Afghanistan, U.S. officials confirmed on Wednesday.
The report was first released by Reuters after two top U.S. military officials hold closed door briefings with members of the America’s Congress about Donald Trump’s policy for South Asia.
But the Pentagon said it would not make any announcement until the U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis speaks out.
Recently, the U.S. military officially confirmed that there are about 11,000 U.S. troops in Afghanistan than the 8,400 previously reported.
If confirmed, it would bring the total number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan to about 14,500.
The disclosure comes as last week Mattis said he had signed orders to send additional troops to Afghanistan but did not specify its number.
