Vietnam Stresses Expansion of Ties with Iran

A029274610.jpgVietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in a meeting with Iran’s ambassador to Hanoi Seyed Javad Ghavam Shahidi stressed the need for the expansion of economic and trade relations between the two countries. According to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry’s Information and Press Bureau, during the meeting, the two officials discussed the latest conditions of the two countries’ relations.

Dung and Shahidi also described as ideal the political and diplomatic relations between Vietnamese and Iranian leaders, and further underlined the necessity of bolstering economic cooperation, specially in the oil, gas and energy sectors.

The Vietnamese premier also pointed out that Iran’s rich resources and desirable potentials and capabilities have encouraged his country to demand for the enhancement of the activities made by the two countries’ joint economic cooperation commission.

Also noting the significance of the upcoming meeting of the foreign ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran, he underscored that Vietnam would attend the meeting at the highest level.

The Vietnamese prime minister also mentioned that exchange of visits by the two countries’ senior officials would pave the way for the further expansion of mutual economic and trade ties.
