I ask all Iranian literati to help financially with the publication of a new version of the Shahnameh which I have compiled over the last 30 years, Professor Fereydoun Joneidi said. “I have been analyzing versions of the Shahnameh from all over the world for more than 30 years and I have compiled a new version in six volumes ready for publication,” Joneidi, Neyshabour Foundation director told CHN.
As a result of his research, Joneidi believes that the Shahnameh has been in more danger of being interpolated than has any other work. In his new version Joneidi has commented in footnotes about issues arising in the text that disagree with Iranian culture, religion or even common sense.
A member of the Neyshabour Foundation has kindly agreed to pay a part of the cost of the publication but more financial assistance is needed if the project is to be completed.
Born in 1940 in Neyshabour, Joneidi has published more than 30 books on Iran’s culture and history including “Iran’s History”, “A letter on the Culture of Iran” and “The Avestan Dictionary”.
If the necessary funds are raised, Joneidi’s version of the Shahnameh is to be published by Neyshabour Foundation Publications.
