Senegal’s Culture Minister Birame Diouf underlined his country’s enthusiasm for expanding cultural cooperation with Iran, specially in grounds of film production, movie screening and training Senegalese filmmakers. Diouf made the remarks in a meeting with Iran’s ambassador to Senegal Jahanbakhsh Hassanzadeh on Friday.
During the meeting, the Senegalese official renewed his president’s call for the expansion of cooperation with Iran in different areas, and said that President Abdoulaye Wade has issued strong orders for bolstering cultural ties and cooperation with the Islamic Republic.
He also expressed the hope that the required grounds would be paved for the holding of Senegal’s cultural week in Tehran next year.
For his part, the Iranian envoy said that Iran is to hold a festival of the short films of young Muslim filmmakers, and voiced preparedness of the officials in charge of the cinematic department of the Iranian guidance ministry to pay a visit to Senegal.
The two sides also agreed to screen a collection of Iranian short and long films simultaneous with the trip of the aforementioned delegation to Senegal.
