A crowd of 10,000 people gathered in the Turkish city of Sivas on Monday (July 2nd) to remember 37 secular intellectuals who were killed by Islamic extremists in 1993.

Security forces have seized almost a tonne of explosive materials in the first half of the year, Zaman newspaper reported on Tuesday (July 3rd).

Missing US defence attaché Thomas Mooney was found dead by police on Monday (July 2nd), after going missing on Thursday. Sources tell AP the body was found near his locked car in a remote rural area.
