Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid arrived Sunday in Algeria to discuss bilateral issues of common interest.

Essid was greeted on his arrival at Houari Boumediene International Airport in Algiers his Algerian counterpart Abdelmalek Sellal.

“My visit comes within the framework of ongoing consultations between Tunisia and Algeria to strengthen the multifaceted bilateral cooperation in various fields, including politics and

economy, “he said.

The security situation in the region, particularly the coordination of border security, will be a main theme of his visit, he said.

Algeria and Tunisia are working to establish “exceptional strategic and effective cooperation between the two neighboring countries in order to reflect the aspirations of the governments and peoples of both nations,” according to a statement from the Algerian PM office.

Algeria is the largest trading partner of Tunisia in the Arab region and Africa.
