Iran Welcomes Elections in Bosnia

A0054425.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Mohammad Ali Hoseini welcomed the successful arrangement of elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina and expressed the hope that it would help that country register increasing progress and welfare.

According to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry’s Information and Press Bureau, Hoseini expressed pleasure at the successful arrangement of elections in Bosnia and reminded, “Elections under such an atmosphere where democratic vying happens in compliance with the international norms and standards pleases the Islamic Republic government and the Iranian nation and we hope that this successful step paves the ground for the further progress and advancement of Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

He expressed the hope that the elections could play an effective role in the strengthening of that country’s territorial integrity, independence and national sovereignty and would pave the ground for the establishment of stability and calm as well as reinvigoration of national solidarity among all the classes of people and sects in that country.

The diplomat reminded Iran’s support for Bosnia since the very moment independence of that country was declared, stating, “Since the time when independence of that country was declared the Islamic Republic of Iran has always backed up Bosnian government and nation and voiced its support for the solidarity and integration of that state.”

“Iran has never spared an effort to have a share in the reconstruction of that country, and it is now again stressing development of relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina in all areas,” he continued.

The Spokesman reiterated Iran’s readiness to continue cooperation and develop ties with any government which would come to power through the elections, and added, “The Islamic Republic wishes success for all the new statesmen in materializing the ideals and achieving the goals of the Bosnian nation.”
