Iran, Belarus Ink Agreement on Defense Cooperation

A02608617.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Following their second round of talks, Iranian and Belarusian defense ministers here on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of defense.

Brigadier General Mostafa Mohammad Najjar and Leonid Maltsev have pointed in the MoU to the resolve of the Iranian and Belarusian leaders to develop all-out relations, and laid emphasis on the expansion and consolidation of defense ties between the two countries.

Exchange of expert delegations, technical and training cooperation, continued dialogues and consultations at the level of the two countries’ defense ministers are among the topics touched in the agreement.

Belarusian Defense Minister Leonid Maltsev arrived here on Sunday and has already attended two rounds of talks with his Iranian counterpart Brigadier General Mostafa Mohammad Najjar.

During his two-day visit to Tehran, the Belarusian official also met with senior Iranian political and defense officials, including President Ahmadinejad and commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Rahim Safavi, to discuss bilateral ties and other issues of mutual interest.
