Iranian Parliament Speaker Gholam Ali Haddad Adel stressed here on Monday that Tehran would never give up even an iota of its nuclear rights. Meantime, he voiced Iran’s full preparedness to prove that its nuclear activities are fully legal and for civilian purposes.
“To prove the legitimacy of its nuclear activities and to prove that it does not intend to make a military use of the nuclear energy and to show that the US allegations are baseless, the Islamic republic of Iran is prepared to have (even more) cooperation with the Agency,” Haddad Adel said during a press conference in response to the question if Iran would allow increased inspections of its nuclear sites by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
He described cooperation with the IAEA as Iran’s main and first intention, saying, “We view negotiations and cooperation as the best way to resolve Iran’s nuclear issue.”
Elsewhere, Haddad Adel referred to the Iraq issue, and blasted the US for opposing the Iraqi government.
He described US opposition to Nuri al-Maliki’s administration as disrespect for the newly established democracy in Iraq, saying that the democracy in Iraq is the United States’ only achievement and the only thing the US can be proud of.
“Opposition to Maliki’s government disarms the White House because the US can no more claim that it is supporting democracy in Iraq,” the speaker added.
He warned that if Americans do not respect the vote of majority in Iraq, they should wait for a much more hazardous future in comparison with the present situation in that country.
He further pointed out that the US president seeks to project the responsibility and blame for its failures on others, saying that the US president’s efforts to introduce a guilty party to the public opinion of his country is growing comic as the White House leaders each month introduce a group or individual as the one who should be blamed.
Haddad Adel said such efforts by the White House are aimed at hiding the main wrongdoers, adding, “Americans are stuck in the quagmire of Iraq and due to the same reason each day they condemn a country or a party, even the popular government of Iraq, for their failures in that country.”
“This is while the invasion of Iraq is the root cause of the US failures,” he continued.
