Ahmadinejad made the remarks in a meeting with China’s incoming ambassador to Tehran here on Sunday, a statement released by the Presidential Press Office said.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran and China should make use of the ample opportunities existing for the expansion of their relations, given their close and common views about many different issues,” he said.

The president further described Iran and China as two great countries with very rich cultures and historical background, and reminded, “The two countries’ consolidated relations are facing obstacles and enemies who oppose progress and mightiness of the Iranian and Chinese nations.”

“Yet, vigilant efforts should be made to utilize all opportunities to boost (Iran-China) cooperation,” he added.

The Iranian president also voiced Tehran’s preparedness to expand relations with Beijing in all the various fields.

For his part, the envoy underlined that Iran and China’s common views about a large number of international and regional issues pave the way for the further expansion of bilateral ties between the two states, and voiced his country’s strong support for Iran’s nuclear rights.

“China views acquisition and use of peaceful nuclear energy as an inalienable right of the Iranian nation,” he reiterated.

The diplomat also said that Tehran and Beijing play a complementary role in different areas, and called for the further expansion of ties and bolstering of cooperation with Iran.

He noted the two countries’ growing relations, and viewed science, culture, education, politics and economy as among the abundant grounds existing for the further expansion of mutual cooperation.
