Brigadier General Ali Fadavi made the remarks on the sidelines of the national competition for the design and manufacture of unmanned vessels in Tehran Wednesday.

Marine activities in the Persian Gulf are of great significance. The role the unmanned vessels will play in the Persian Gulf waters is as important as that of manned vessels, Brigadier General Fadavi noted.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps commander also expressed the Navy Force’s complete support for such competitions and similar programs in the future.

In the wake of US and Israeli threats against the country, the exclusive responsibility to safeguard the Persian Gulf was handed over to the IRGC.

The IRGC says its missiles can hit any target across the width of the Persian Gulf and that all gunboats are within its range, press tv reported.

The Islamic Republic’s top military officials have warned Iran would close the Strait of Hormuz at the entry point to the Persian Gulf, should Israel or its closest ally the US launch an attack against the country.
