A04000973.jpgTEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hassan Qashqavi strongly condemned abduction of an Iranian diplomat in Pakistan.

Heshmatollah Attarzadeh, commercial attache of the Iranian consulate in Peshawar, capital of the North West Frontier Province (NWFP), was kidnapped from Hayatabad neighborhood when he was heading to his office, Pakistanis police said.

The kidnappers shot dead the diplomat’s guard and took Attarzadeh to an unknown place.

Qashqavi called the move as “act of terrorism”.

He said that Pakistan is seriously responsible for immunity of the diplomat in accord with the Vienna Convention.

“Pakistan should do its best to protect foreign diplomats and their residential places,” Qashqavi said, the Islamic republic news agency reported.

He said that Iranian Embassy and its consulate chief in Pakistan are following up the case in cooperation with the Pakistani officials.

He hoped that through serious efforts of Pakistani officials the abductors would be identified very soon to free Iranian diplomat.
