Russia Calls for Regional Cooperation with Iran

TEHRAN (FNA)- Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Yakovenko on Friday reiterated Moscow’s emphasis on the enhancement of international and regional cooperation with Iran.

In his meeting with Iran’s Ambassador to Russia Mahmoud Reza Sajjadi, Yakovenko said that Russia is at loggerheads with great powers over instrumental use of UN and international organizations to achieve unilateralist aims as well as putting pressure on independent countries.

He also said that Russia is against any use of those international forums for taking political stand and adopting ambiguous policies on world states, the Islamic republic news agency reported.

Referring to Iran’s ancient culture and civilization, the Russian deputy foreign minister called for the Iranian officials to introduce Islamic Republic of Iran’s stand and attitudes at the Russian universities.

Meanwhile, the Iranian ambassador appreciated Russia for its principled stance on the West’s manipulation against Iran.

Sajjadi added that making UN and international organizations free from the domination of unilateralist powers is a must.

He also expressed Iran’s readiness to strengthen Tehran-Moscow ties in the international era.
