*GAZA – Palestinian witnesses report heavy fighting east of the city of Gaza where Hamas militants fired anti-tank missiles and mortar bombs at advancing Israeli forces who responded with tank shells and air strikes.

*GAZA – An Israeli air strike targeting a car on a coastal road kills two militants, medical workers say.

*GAZA – Israeli artillery shelling of two villages in the southern Gaza Strip kills a Palestinian woman and sets 15 houses on fire, medical workers and witnesses say. Some 50 people are treated for burns and gas inhalation, they say.

*GAZA/ISRAEL – The death toll in Gaza in the two-week Israeli offensive reaches 846, more than a third of them children, the Hamas-run Health Ministry says. Thirteen Israelis have been killed, 10 soldiers, and three civilians killed by Hamas rocket fire.
