US urges Albanian parties to respect Electoral Code

TIRANA, Albania

US Ambassador to Tirana John Withers stressed on Wednesday (July 15th) that it is crucial that the tallying process in the June 28th parliamentary elections is conducted in accordance with the Electoral Code. “The process has to be transparent, professional and not politicised,” Withers said. The Central Elections Commission is addressing claims from parties that allege irregularities have surfaced in a few regions. Tallying is in its final stage now, after more than two weeks.
