According to PSE, “these actions cause a considerable instability in the Moldovan society”.
The European Left Party (PSE) is concerned with the first actions of the liberal-democratic governance from Moldova, “that is a step backward in the development of Moldova democratic institutions”.
PSE refers to the recent changes made in the Code of Audiovisual, total ignorance of the rights of the opposition in the Parliament, considerable chances in the social security policies, lack of sustainability in the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict. PSE considers that the new Republic of Moldova governing authorities initiated “a campaign to limit freedom of speech, trying to close opposition and critical mass-media institutions”.
According to PSE, “these actions cause a considerable instability in the Moldovan society”.
In a statement of the EU Council, PSE asks the European Commission and the European Parliament, as well as the Council of Europe to play a more active role in interrupting and preventing violation of human rights, oppressing democracy and discrediting European values. European institutions should assume the responsibility to prevent the establishment of a non-democratic system in Moldova.
