European Union foreign ministers are discussing the situations in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo at a meeting in Brussels.
“There are no security risks in Bosnia-Herzegovina, maybe there are political dangers, but I want to stress that there are no security dangers,” EU Foreign and Security Policies Chief Javier Solana said.
The EU mission in Kosovo, EULEX, on the other hand, is facing “great challenges in implementing the rule of law” and helping build a “state structure”.
“It is true that in Kosovo, the EU mission is facing great challenges, but the European Union by definition is sending its missions where because challenges exist. Progress has been made, but a lot more needs to be achieved. The greatest challenge is implementing the rule of law,” Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt said.
It was stated in Brussels that EULEX has achieve success in strengthening the courts and beginning legal procedures for serious criminal cases and corruption.
