Voronin hopes Moldova and EU will sign association agreement

The former President of Moldova Vladimir Voronin, the leader of the Opposition party, the PCRM, says that his party will support the initiatives aimed at bringing Moldova closer to the EU standards.

He is in favor of liberalizing the visa regime for the Moldovan travelers and developing the economic relations between Moldova and the EU.

Vladimir Voronin and the head of the European Union’s Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schuebel discussed Moldova’s European integration prospects and the social and political problems faced by the country at a bilateral meeting on Monday, December 14, Info-Prim Neo reports.

The former head of state told the European official that he hopes the new agreement between Moldova and the EU will be an association agreement. Voronin assured Dirk Shuebel that the Communist parliamentary group and the PCRM will back all the initiatives aimed at bringing Moldova closer to the EU, it is said a communique from the PCRM.

According to the communique, Dirk Schuebel said the major results achieved by Moldova in the relations with the EU are mainly due to the commitments made the previous Moldovan governments.
