Blockages of Greek farmers are not against Bulgaria: Greek Ambassador

Blockages of Greek farmers are not directed against the interests of the Bulgarian branch sector. It is said to see such opinions in some media, said Greek Ambassador to Bulgaria Danae-Madeleine Koumanakou at the meeting with Bulgarian economic minister Traycho Traykov.

“I assured the minister that at this moment Greek government is holding an intensive talks and that Greek economy suffers big losses over the situation,” the diplomat added.

Danae-Madeleine Koumanakou said Greek government looks at the problem on blocked borders with big sensibility. Greece strongly wishes the blockages to be lifted as soon as possible, she added.

Minister Traykov added he has learned that for now Greek government will not use force against farmers.

The guarantee we will receive compensations if the situation worsens, are the European regulations, Bulgaria can rely on, he said.

The tourist flow has lowered more than ten times since the beginning of the blockages, Traycho Traykov added. It is not enough juts one checkpoint to be opened, minister said.
