Georgia-Turkey border region governors discuss cooperation

Regional governors along the Georgia-Turkey border discussed cooperation in Akhaltsikhe this week. Georgian Governor Lasha Chkadua met with neighboring Turkish border region Ardahan Governor Mustafa Tekmen and the governor of the Georgian Samtskhe Dzhvakheti region.

The meeting aimed to deepen relations between the Samtskhe Dzhvakheti and Ardahan regions.

The Turkish guest was interested in the region’s economic potential. At a working meeting, the sides discussed trade and economic relations between border areas, as well as cooperation in the education, culture, and sports spheres.

Within the visit, the Turkish guests visited Akhaltsikhe Independent University where the Turkish Language and Literature Department gave lessons on scientific and educational literature. At the end of the visit, the guests visited a historical museum in Samtskhe Dzhvakheti.
